1. Value Added in the ICT sector: As a % of GDP

This is calculated by dividing the Value Added in the ICT sector by the total value added in all sectors X 100

 

2. Value Added in the ICT sector: In terms of value (Rs. Billion)

This is the total amount in Rs.billion that the Value Added in the ICT sector is contributing to GDP

 

3. Growth Rate  of the ICT sector

Percentage of nominal change of value added adjusted to change in prices

 

4. Turnover of establishments in the ICT sector

 

Turnover is the sum of the turnover of ICT companies in the ICT sector as segmented in table 1: ICT sector Definition.

 

5. Turnover for IT Hardware and software

This indicator provides the Turnover of establishments with the following ISIC Code :

 

3000     Manufacture of Office, accounting and computing machinery

3130     Manufacture of insulated wire and cable

3210     Manufacture of electronic valves and tubes and other electronic components

3220     Manufacture of TV and radio transmitters and apparatus for line telephony telegraphy

3230     Manufacture of TV and radio receivers, sound or video reproducing apparatus and associated goods

3312     Manufacture of instruments and appliances for measuring, checking, testing, navigating and other purposes, except industrial process control equipment

3313     Manufacture of Industrial process control equipment

5151     Wholesale of computers, computer equipment and software

5152     Wholesale of electronic and Telecommunications parts and equipment

6. Turnover for IT Services and IT Enabled Services

This indicator provides the Turnover of establishments with the following ISIC Code :

7123 Renting of office machinery and equipment (including computers)

7200  Computer and related activities

74999 Call-Centres

The activities for IT Services and IT Enabled Services are grouped into the following:

 

(1) BPO/Call Centre

(2) Software Development

(3) Consultancy

(4) Multimedia

 

 

7. Turnover for Telecommunications

This indicator provides the Turnover of establishments with the following ISIC Code :

 

6420 Telecommunications:

·         transmission of sound, images, data or other information via cables, broadcasting, relay or satellite:

·         telephone, telegraph and telex communication

·         transmission (transport) of radio and television programmes

·         maintenance of the network

·         Internet access provision

·         public pay-telephone services

 

8. Percentage change - IT hardware and software turnover

This indicator is calculated by subtracting the turnover of IT hardware and software for the previous year from the current year and then dividing it by the previous year and finally multiplying it by 100.

 

9. Percentage Change -IT Services and IT Enabled Services

This indicator is calculated by subtracting the turnover of IT Services and IT Enabled Services for the previous year from the current year and then dividing it by the previous year and finally multiplying it by 100.

 

 

10. Percentage change – Telecommunications turnover

Turnover of Telecommunications divide by Total ICT Turnover x 100

 

 

11. Number of ICT Companies (as per SM)

This indicator is the number of large establishments in the ICT sector, employing 10 or persons

12. Number of ICT- BPO Companies (as per BOI)

 

This indicator is the number of ICT-BPO companies involve in the following activities:

1.    BPO Voice - Call Centers

2.    BPO Non-Voice - Back Office, Payroll, Finance & accounting outsourcing, Legal Process Outsourcing

3.    Information Technology Outsourcing - software development, Mobile apps development, Web development, E-commerce, Multimedia

4.    IT Services - Data Centres, Disaster Recovery, Training, Consultancy

5.    Digital Content: E commerce/ E Payment, digital content production, applications e – learning & online training system, animation, Mobile games

 

 

13. Imports of ICT goods (Rs M)

 

This indicator is the importing of ICT goods imports including telecommunications, audio and video, computer and related equipment; electronic components; and other information and communication technology goods. Software is excluded.

 

14. Exports of ICT goods (Rs M)

This indicator is involves the exporting of ICT goods imports including telecommunications, audio and video, computer and related equipment; electronic components; and other information and communication technology goods. Software is excluded.

 

15. Exports of ICT services.

 

This indicator is involves the exporting of ICT service including communications services (telecommunications, business network services, teleconferencing, support services, and postal services) and computer and information services (database, data processing, software design and development, maintenance and repair, and news agency services).

 

16. ICT Goods imports as a % of total imports

 

This indicator is calculated by dividing the imports of ICT goods by the total imports and then multiplying by 100.

 

17.ICT Goods exports as a % of total exports

 

This indicator is calculated by dividing the exports of ICT goods by the total exports and then multiplying by 100.
