The Global Innovation Index 2017 (GII), in its 10th edition this year, is co-published by Cornell University, INSEAD, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The GII theme this year is “Innovation Feeding the World”. The report which has been published on the 15th June 2017 ranks Mauritius at the 64th place compared to 53rd in 2016. The GII measures and ranks the innovation performance of 127 economies worldwide. It is based on 82 indicators, capturing criteria such as institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, linkages, the creation of knowledge and creative outputs. GII allows assessing innovation performance relative to a country’s level of economic development.
